Caring for your Tiftuf
TifTuf is a highly drought tolerant lawn. Like all lawns, it will require frequent watering until established. Once established, watering will be minimal – only water as required.
Less frequent, deeper waters are recommended after establishment. Watering for longer lengths of time creates a deeper, stronger root structure, building drought tolerance.

TifTuf maintenance is simple, the key aspect to keep on top of is mowing. It’s active root system gives it great repairing qualities; therefore, mowing may be required on a weekly basis. TifTuf generally establishes quickly, we recommend giving it a mow within 1 to 2 weeks of laying pending the season of installation. When mowing, never mow more than 1/3 of the leaf blade at a time. Sharp mower blades is a must to prevent tearing the leaf blade.

Fertilising requirements for TifTuf are low, however it will still require regular fertilising to maintain a healthy lawn. For TifTuf lawns, we recommend applying fertiliser at 1/3 of the rate of other grasses, twice per year. Too much fertiliser can cause excessive growth and mowing.
Lawn Solutions Australia have developed a product to best suit TifTuf lawns. Oxafert is a pre-emergent herbicide and fertiliser in one. It provides nutrients to your lawn and controls annual grass-type weeds.
